I look forward to posts from Kevin M. Harris. Have a great day on purpose!

Positivity! Positivity! Positivity! There is more to positivity than just being POSITIVE! It’s called REALITY! It’s great to have a positive outlook and mindset. Please do. In the process, don’t forget to be real. The following picture is a GIF from Google+ that I really appreciate.
Confidence is great and should be a part of everyone’s character. Positivity is wonderful, enjoyable and attracts more positivity. Don’t embrace positivity alone. Embrace reality, too. Continue reading
Respect the opinion of others. Be open to the views of others. Not everyone will agree with you. You will not agree with everyone. There’s a time to agree to disagree. Be positive. Be kind. Be honest. Honesty may be the best policy but honesty isn’t always readily received. Most of us don’t like to be told that we are in error. Even if we are open to constructive criticism, it doesn’t mean we don’t take a few deep breaths while receiving it. The deliverer of the correction may take as many, if not more, deep breaths as the receiver. Again, be positive – be kind – be honest – give respect with openness.

While blogging, I do my best to reference what I use by others. No, it’s not always easy. For example, I am an avid reader. I haven’t been able to read much in the last few months. When I started this blog about two weeks ago, I referenced many thoughts “I” have written before. I have spoken to youth many times in the past 5 or 6 years on the use of social media and being responsible. I enjoy reading the views of others, especially when they align with what I have spoken. I have trained admin pros before and speak from experience. Yes, I glean from others. Basically, there will be times when what you express is similar to the thoughts of others. It’s about integrity. You live with yourself. Be honest and true to “you” if no one else.
Failure is a great thing because you tried. Bad experiences will happen. The best thing is to let go and move forward with lessons learned. (Image shared via Google+)
The following link is an extreme case of the illegal use of an organization’s logo; however, it is not a minor issue.
I am not focused on race relations here as much as media relations. As an employee or otherwise, you should always research how a company requires its logos and other proprietary information to be used and referenced.
Twitter, Facebook and others provide guidelines via their websites. For an example, take a look at the restrictions for the use of Twitter’s logo.
Time in research before use can save time in addressing improper use.
To assist your organization, learn your requirements. Use them accordingly. Know the point of contact to report misuse whether by internal or external sources. Do so quickly in the age of social media. It only takes a second for a media storm.
Be a team player. Company image is everyone’s responsibility.

What do you do when the power is out? How do you function? How do you keep things moving?
Whether in the home or on the job, how do you function with no technology?
This is a time when priorities are of the utmost importance. If you don’t know when power will be restored, what are the most important and pressing tasks to accomplish with your technology? Do you have a contingency plan for it? Should you have a plan?
I always keep a list of things that must be accomplished and the order in which to do so. However, when the power is out, I have to review that list for re-prioritization. Why? Not all require the use of technology/power. I handle the most pressing issue that requires technology (tablet, computer, phone) first.
This also makes me think of the cloud. There are pros and cons. I think mostly pros when your tablet has its own data source. Even more of a pro when your phone tethers at no extra cost (Thanks Verizon!). With a data source and tethering capabilities, my tablet, computer and phone keep me connected as long as they have power. The main con with the cloud is no data source. To help keep your most pressing documents updated on the cloud and accessible always, keep a backup copy on your desktop, phone or tablet.
It all goes back to prioritizing tasks because power can run out before all power is restored.
Just a random thought because I have spent most of the morning without power. I am glad that I enjoy reading. I am glad that I keep up with the latest technologies. I am glad that I enjoy the pleasure of my own company, too. When all is silent, what do you do?

A healthy outlook on life is wonderful.
When we allow ourselves to learn from others and experiences, our view of things can improve for the better. We respect the opinions of others. We listen and welcome their view.

I was talking with a friend and recognized my own growth. Things that would have irritated me a few years ago have no affect on me now. I have little to no commentary on some things. I view news pieces and other things to gain knowledge, understanding and wisdom. I really don’t have a desire for the negative pieces that seem to just tear down others. I would rather view errors as an opportunity to learn and grow.
So, I like this picture because it let me know that when I grow, “I” know.

From one of my favorite places – The Reading Room!
Earlier, I was thinking, “I haven’t read blogs in a while. Why don’t I have time?” My response, “You don’t make time to do some of the things you enjoy. Just stop and do it.”
I am really enjoying reading blogs I follow via WordPress. I won’t be able to get through them all but will focus on two that I really enjoy – Amdin Renegade and Smartblogs (great article – http://smartblogs.com/leadership/2015/03/16/to-succeed-today-you-need-wisdom/).
I recently read some other great posts. While it may have been a week or two ago, they were great. I enjoy reading. It’s one of my passions. To get lost in knowledge is enjoyable.
Take some time to do things that you enjoy. It’s rewarding.

Experience is a good teacher if you allow yourself to be taught. I have discovered skills and gifts within me that I never noticed because I was so busy only embracing what I did know. When I walked out of my comfort zone by walking away from the known, I discovered another aspect of the “me” God created me to be. -Kreatively Synt
Your gifts don’t always show up immediately, God uses your experiences to draw out of you skills and giftings you didn’t even know you had! “Be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” 2 Chron. 15:7 -T.D. Jakes
